These last few weeks, Pastor Dony’s Sunday Celebration messages have been about discipleship: about what it means to really follow Jesus.
The Apostle Paul followed Jesus wherever God called him to go, and whatever God called him to do. He faced a lot of opposition and suffered a lot of hardship, but his passion was to be a disciple and to share God’s good news. Watch this video about Paul and what happened in his life. No matter what, Paul kept following Jesus. He truly was a disciple who made disciples: https://vimeo.com/30378739 Jesus might not call you to be a missionary, or a pastor, or write letters of encouragement or instruction like Paul did. You probably won’t end up in prison, or shipwrecked, or in danger of your life for your faith. But He calls every one of us to be disciples, and to make disciples for Him. Book of James - Pray for One Another It’s amazing how much practical wisdom the Book of James holds. If you haven’t read it before, or even if it’s been awhile, give it a read—it’s only 5 chapters. During this week’s family worship lesson, we’ll be looking at the last chapter of James and learning about the importance of praying for each other. Here is a snapshot of the lesson details for this week:
Watch the video lesson https://youtu.be/RBt553YxvHw (8:56 mins) and think about whether there is someone in your own life who could pray for you if you admit to them that you are struggling with sin. After that, you can download and use these activity materials:
As you finish, think about who you could pray for. |

Book of James: Taming the Tongue Question: What does a spark and your tongue have in common? Answer: They are both small, but they have the power to cause incredible damage. During this week’s family worship lesson, we’ll once again be gaining wisdom from the Book of James. Specifically, we’ll be talking about the importance of “taming the tongue.” Here is a snapshot of the lesson details for this week:
Nabal was selfish and rude, and what he said made trouble between him and David, but Abigail’s wise and gentle words turned away David’s anger and saved their family. Watch the video lesson https://youtu.be/RBt553YxvHw (5:51 mins) to think more about how our tongue can get us into trouble, or help us and others. After that, you can download and use these activity materials:
It’s our prayer that you are able to speak life-giving words into your family and at school this coming week. |

Book of James - Treat Everyone the Same The Bible says in James 2:1, “My brothers and sisters, you are believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ. So treat everyone the same.”(NIRV) It’s such a simple command, but our sin makes it so hard to follow. The temptation is to treat people differently based on what they look or sound like. That’s what we’re going to tackle in this week’s lesson. Here is a snapshot of the lesson details for this week:
You might like to watch an animated version of this story from Crossroads Kids, here: https://youtu.be/LzZUDRrKgI8 (1.52 mins). Although we can learn about thankfulness from this story, start thinking about how it felt for the lepers that they were rejected or treated differently by everyone else, and what it meant to them that Jesus showed love for them. Then you can watch the video lesson https://youtu.be/OFPdeOzCWlk (6:30 mins). After that, you can download these materials to do:

Book of James lesson 2 - Listen and do what is right Sometimes it’s hard enough to listen to God, but then it’s even more of a challenge to do what He says. Listen and do what is right—that’s what this week’s lesson tackles. This isn’t just a challenge for kids, it’s hard for everyone. Here is a snapshot of the lesson details for this week:
Start by reading your Bible, 2 Kings chapter 22. You can do this on your own or with you family. This is the story of King Josiah, who listened to God and then did what was right. You can watch an animated version of this story from Crossroads Kids, here: https://youtu.be/6C4MEXXbBmM (4:22 mins) Then watch the video lesson https://youtu.be/HSKcTMgPFGc (10:17 mins). Book of James - Joy and Wisdom in times of trouble This has been a time of trouble for a lot of us, but how many of us can say it’s also been a time of joy? Believe it or not, that’s what the Bible says it should be. This week we’ll discover why the Book of James tells us we should be joyful in the middle of our troubles. Here is a snapshot of the lesson details for this week:
Start by reading the passage in your Bible, on your own or with your family. Can we really have joy in times of trouble? And why is it important to have wisdom? Watch the Journey Today show to learn more about that: https://youtu.be/pSg_NikHa44 (8:47 mins) After the videos, you can download some materials to help take you deeper into the lesson:
In all honesty, this is a hard lesson to master. As simple as the concept is, it can be very challenging to find joy in times of trouble. But that’s what I’ll be praying for you! |

This week’s Family Activities (see link above) for the older kids involves the most challenging and cut-throat game of all time - Rock, Paper, Scissors... with a difference.
But we're going to make a little competition out of it! As you play the game and learn the verse as instructed in the Guide, keep track of the member of your family who wins the most battles in your game. During the week you then submit that person's name and their score (how many battles they won in ONE single game) to Pastor Panda. We'll compare the results we receive from all the families and then announce the highest individual scorer as the KL Kids Rock, Paper, Scissors Champion! To make sure it's a fair playing field, please use these rules:
